Gringo

Gringo is the last movie I did before I got married. Yes, basically because I had to wrap two days earlier to fly out of Mexico and to my wedding. Maite still remembers those weeks before the wedding...

My dear Friend Natasha Braier started this movie as a DP, but had to pull out due to family reasons after two weeks of shooting, so I stepped in to work with Nash. It is always a real pleasure to work with the Edgertons! Doing their movies, I actually realized how amazing the Aussies are: they're relaxed and clever, at the same time of being hardworking and fun to work with. If I could, I would do movies with aussies all the time!

But Gringo is also my first comedy, although it is not really a comedy. It is a mix of genres that are exciting to do and watch: a bit of thriller, mixed with not too much drama, some action scenes mixed with a lot of clever comedy. I hope it is an enjoying movie to watch!

As for my work, I am happy to have learnt so much on this movie, and I tried to do something more colorful and vibrant, with more energy and a bit more mainstream. It is all a learning curve, hope everything that I've learnt will take me somewhere new.
